A little love for Team USA

Feb 8, 2014

I am a giant Olympics fan.

Every two years I get an enormous dose of inspiration. These remarkable people have worked their butts off to get to where they are. Watching the Olympics, I feel like anything is possible. Yes, it takes hard work and sacrifices, but when you see those rings rise above you it was all worth it.

(Did you see that? I just became an Olympian in my own head. That's what the games do!)

A few ladies inspiring me today:

Hannah Kearney
One incredible woman! Hannah has been on top of her game for the last two Olympics, and she's going for her third. And I can't wait to watch her win it.

Jessica Diggins
This time of year I feel like I gain 200+ friends. I know their life stories, I cheer for them like they're my besties, and I call them by their nicknames. Case in point - "Jessie." I fell in love with Jessie when she showed up with red, white and blue hair at the Opening Ceremonies.

Kate Hansen
Kate is a local girl that somehow ended up in a winter sport. I don't know how she did it, but I love it. She's got a great attitude and I've never been so excited to watch the luge.

Maryl Davis
When Jeremy Abbot skated a rough short program, Meryl Davis was the first to pat him on the back. I fell in love with her then. That's what these games are all about... trying your hardest and supporting your team. Also, she happens to be an incredibly good figure skater.

Heidi Kloser
Heidi broke her leg the first day of training. As she got into the ambulance, she asked her parents, "Am I still an Olympian?" Absolutely, Heidi. You're a champion and I'm proud to have you represent my country.

So for the next 17 days I will be glued to the television cheering on our incredible athletes. I hope you'll join me.
