My Fancy Year: #ootd meets cancer awareness

Jul 2, 2014

Eve Hazelton is the kind of person who stands out at a grocery store. She's beautiful and clearly fun to be around, but there's another reason. Can you guess?

That's right, Eve Hazelton picks her pineapples while dressed as a pirate. Why, you ask? That's a very good question. In fact, it's exactly the reaction she was hoping for.

Eve is dressing in "fancy dress" (aka costumes to us yanks) to promote cancer awareness. Every day from July 1, 2014 to June 30th, 2015 she'll be donning something completely wacky. Her outfits (donated by Smiffy's) range from Mad Hatter to She-ra to Madonna and everything in between. Every time someone asks her about what she's wearing, she gets to talk about how feeling your boobs could save your life.

I hear you saying, "Wait, what? Boob feeling came out of left field!"

It's probably not something you've thought about in awhile. Which is exactly the point. The more young people start feeling their boobs, the more likely they are to catch breast cancer early on.

Eve is looking to raise $34,000+ for the very cool UK charity CoppaFeel, whose purpose is to "educate and remind every young person in the UK that checking their boobs isn’t only fun, it could save their life."

I can't wait to see Eve's outfits in my #ootd rotation! You can vote for the next day's outfit and see what craziness she's gotten herself into by following her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Or check out the main page at myfancyyear.com.

If you have a few dollars to spare, consider donating. Or help by spreading the word using #myfancyyear.

Any outfit ideas for Eve?
