Friday Favorites: Lauren Sherman Is the Fashion Writer You Always Wanted

Jun 26, 2015

This week I discovered Lauren Sherman. She's my kind of fashion writer.

This week I read her piece "Yes, You Should Buy an Apple Watch." Which made me immediately change my mind about Apple Watches (do you have one? would love to hear your review in the comments below!).

Then I read "For a Fulfilling Career in Fashion, Embrace Failure," a review of Kate Betts' book My Paris Dream: An Education in Style, Slang, and Seduction in the Great City on the Seine. She tells the truncated story of Betts' unconventional rise to the helm of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, and I immediately bought the book.

And finally, because I hadn't had enough, I read, "How I Found My Personal Style After Ditching the Office Hive Mind." And I found my jam. Sherman perfectly explains what it's like to head in to work day after day feeling like you're putting on a mask, which I inevitably do when I give in to wearing the professional attire I'd rather burn. But more than that, the piece is about finding yourself. I can't recommend it enough.

Bottom line - really good journalists are hard to find in this day of crowded interwebs. It's a treat to find someone so good, especially in the fashion industry. I hope you love her writing as much as I do!
