The Bag in the Bag - How to Change Bags and Stay Organized

Jun 18, 2015

How many bags do you have? How many do you actually carry?

If you answered "all of them" I'd like to shake your hand. But chances are you're like me - I'm lucky to have many beautiful bags, but I don't change them up as often as I'd like. It's just so much easier to pick up the one bag and go!

Here's how to solve this problem:

Ipsy Pretty Important Stuff - Hello, Handbag

I call this the Bag in the Bag.

First, get yourself a good medium-sized lightweight bag. Mine is about 5"x7". I got this one via Ipsy, a lovely subscription service that sends me makeup and other goodies every month for $10. Check Ipsy out here.

Life is short, change up your bag - Hello, Handbag
In the bag go all your loose extras, the things you need to carry but don't need to have rattling around. For me, that's:

  • a tiny lint roller (for dog parents this is a must!)
  • extra hair ties
  • bobby pins
  • a pen
  • my red NARS lipstick (for those days you just need red lipstick)
  • a beautiful little Swiss Army knife I bought in Switzerland
  • a quarter machine rubber elephant, a gift from my husband

Note though, this is not the makeup bag I carry around with me. Nope, that's separate. It does include elephants though! More on that later...

Disclosure: I get points from Ipsy if you sign up for a subscription.

  1. This totally works! I am a crazy bag inside a bag person. One for makeup; one for pen, notepad, business cards and any other random thing; then their are the fold-able bags I carry with me for shopping, and I know their is a smaller pouch in there with random little things. Totally makes switching purses easier!
And cat parents totally need that lint roller too!

    1. Lol, ah yes I remember the cat days! I have a pretty elephant bag for my makeup that needs a feature of its own - perhaps after a good wash.... :)
