Hello Monday: Back to School, J.Crew Gets Better, and H&M Denim Recycling

Aug 29, 2015

Back to the grind! Check out this roundup from last week's fashion news:

Really cute school supplies
Can you believe it's back to school time already? Where did the summer go? Sydne Summer's shopping list is just what students young and old need to be fabulous in the classroom. (Psst - this Things are Totally Gonna Work Out notebook is great for non-students too).

Jogger's outstanding response to fat heckler
Lindsey Swift was out jogging when someone thought it would be appropriate to heckle her for being fat. Let's just repeat that - Swift was jogging, and this guy thought it was right to heckle her about being overweight. Ugh.

Fortunately, Swift happens to be both self-confident and brilliant. We adore this woman. Here's just a snippet of what she had to say: "Let me make one thing very clear, I am not ashamed of my body. It has never stopped me from doing anything I want. My fat body has done things that you, hanging out of the window of your babe-magnet white van could only ever dream of. My fat body has been swimming in crystal clear Thai seas that you have probably only ever seen on TV." Read the rest of her response here.

Miss the old J.Crew? There's hope!
J.Crew has been slipping lately. Quality, structure, and style haven't been what they once were. Jenna Lyons, Creative Director and president of J.Crew, has taken some of the blame. But fear not! On a conference call the brand affirmed it's bringing back "heritage" pieces (like my beloved ballet flats). More here.

Denim Re-Born by H&M
Your old clothes are finding new life at H&M's new Denim Re-born collection. H&M recycles the clothing you bring in (ps - you can donate a bag of old clothes for a 15% discount!) and makes new pieces out of them. The Denim RE-born collection features jeans, jackets, and a really cute hoodie with ears for the kids. Read more here.
