Sep 29, 2015

Gigi Hadid, the very famous model, just told her internet trolls to eff off in epic fashion.

If you're like me, you've been seeing a lot of Gigi Hadid in your feed lately. Hidad has become as ubiquitous as Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne. She's even a member of Taylor Swift's girl squad. If I had to sum it up, here's a brief history of my Gigi Hadid knowledge:
2012 - nothing
2013 - nothing
2014 - nothing
2015 - nothing nothing nothing OMG GIGI HADID IS EVERYWHERE

The girl is gorgeous. She looks like this:

I mean, she's just so pretty. She also looks like a woman. She's tall and skinny, sure, but she has some actual curves. She looks like she might be a real woman, probably because she is - she's the captain emeritus of her high school volleyball team, an accomplished horseback rider, and a current student at The New School in New York.

I bet you know what comes next in this story. You guessed it: trolls. Those nasty people who hide behind the anonymity of the internet to say mean things to people who don't deserve it. Those buggers have left some churlish remarks on Hadid's social media accounts.

Here's what Ms. Hadid has to say about all that:

Translation: Trolls, eff the eff off. Amen girl!

I'm not the only one who loved it. Tyra Banks, a household-name model with body shamers of her own, had this to say:

"Your words are powerful. Your words are necessary. Your words are vulnerable. Your words are real. Sending you love and hugs. From one model that had curves and a unique walk to another, Tyra"

My personal favorite line is, "I hope everyone gets to a place in their life where they'd rather talk about the things that inspire them over the things that bring others down." I do too. So tell me, what inspires you? What changes do you want to make in the national conversation? I'd love to hear, leave a note in the comments below!

Editor's note - this article was updated on 9/29 to correct the misspelling of Hadid's name.

  1. I wish people would focus less on weight and more on health. Is 10 or 40 extra pounds so awful, worse than smoking or sitting for 12 hours a day? Yet people are always talking about how much weight they need to lose...why not just eat well, take long walks, and be happy?!
