Tess Holliday Is One Of TIME's Most Influential People On The Internet

Mar 21, 2016

TIME just named Tess Holliday as one of the most influential people on the internet.

You might remember her as the size 22 model who graced the cover of People magazine last May. She's also the voice behind the influential #effyourbeautystandards movement celebrating body positivity and moving the needle on our media's absurdly narrow definition of beauty.

TIME determined the list of 30 based on "global impact on social media and their overall ability to drive news." Heavy hitters like J.K Rowling, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, Donald Trump (ugh), Caitlyn Jenner and more join Holliday as the 2016 Most Influential People on the Internet.

Holliday credits her success to social media. She told People, "Thanks to the power of the Internet, I was able to create my own destiny. I started posting photos of myself in my underwear, then in bathing suits and other clothes that I liked but weren’t considered suitable for large and curvy women... As my modeling career took off, I began to challenge society's perception of "beauty" and what's acceptable in our industry and the world."
